Final Results of the 6th Ethiopian General Election

While only three opposition political parties have managed to win a small number of seats, 4 independent candidates have also become members of the next parliament. National Movement of Amhara (NaMA) won 5 seats in Amhara, whereas Ethiopian Citizens for Social Justice (EZEMA) and Gedeo Peoples Democratic Organization (GPDO) won 4 and 2 seats from SNNP respectively.

EU Canceled Electoral Observation Mission to Ethiopia

The statement by the High Representative Josep Borrell added, “As conditions are not fulfilled, the deployment of the mission has to be cancelled.” The prominent condition emphasized in the statement was integrity of the electoral observation mission which is “a cornerstone of the EUs support for democracy.”
